57% off 95 pt Cabernet Blend
I had the pleasure of tasting this in the fall at Corks for Kids... it was smoking good!
And $150.
Gulp.
Apparently I wasn't the only one who balked at the price tag. Because now it is on sale!
I have a mere 26 bottles. Trust me on this one... it is worth every penny.
Bodegas Sierra Salinas 1237 2004 - Sale $64.99 net / reg. $149.99 - save 57% - 95 pts Wine Advocate - "The 1237 is 50% Garnacha Tintorera and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Purple/black-colored, the nose offers up wood smoke, toasty oak, crushed stone, violets, black cherry, black raspberry, and black currants. Plush, layered, and focused, the wine is intense, concentrated, and well-balanced. It has enough stuffing to evolve for several years but can be enjoyed now."
As the review states, this is drinking wonderfully now, and will age for years to come. The Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) adds an exotic sense to the more grounded Cabernet. Delish... grabbing a few for myself...
