91 point Bordeaux for $22!
Bordeaux time… not futures, mind you… but wine you can actually buy and receive in short order! This lovely 2009 is on the water, due to arrive in 8 weeks. Orders must be confirmed by the importer, but supply looks decent.
The pricing is what grabbed my attention… with the buzz over the 2009 vintage - Robert Parker called it “the single greatest vintage I have ever tasted” - I fully expected to see a dramatic price increase in 2009 arrivals. Yet, here we have consensus 91 point juice for slightly more than $20? Yahoo!
If you’re a Bordeaux lover, I encourage you to jump on this value.
Chateau Arnauton le Grand Sol 2009 – Sale $21.99

“The special cuvee, the 2009 Grand Sol, is an outstanding wine made from 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a big wine at 15.5% natural alcohol, but that’s not unusual in this vintage. Plenty of glycerin and dense, concentrated, jammy blue, red and black fruits interwoven again with some crushed chalk and spring flowers make for some complex aromatics. Add some raspberry notes in the fruit flavor profile in the mid-palate, in addition to the full-bodied finish, and you have a real winner and a sleeper of the vintage. Drink it over the next decade or more.” WA
“Ripe and refined, with dark, smoldering tobacco framing the sleek notes of melted fig, crushed plum and black currant preserves. Shows nice weight, but stays sleek and defined through the finish. Drink now through 2018.” WS
