Summer of Riesling!
Thirsty Thursday Tasting – German Riesling - Chapel Hill. Thursday (duh!) 5-7 pm. Free!
There’s a movement out there called Summer of Riesling, and we’re on board! Besides some free buttons and tattoos, it’s been a great excuse to drink more of this noble grape, and we’ve so far been featuring selections from Austria, Washington State, Italy, and, of course, Germany. July marks “31 Days of German Riesling,” and we’ve got Riesling in many forms to showcase: sparkling, half-dry, and then Kabinett, Spatlese, and Auslese too, the major categories of ripeness and quality. Drinking more Riesling may or may not, as some folks are saying, make you a better person, but it’s always a treat to experience its delightful combination of sweet fruit and racy acidity.
