Wednesday, May 9th from 5-7pm – Special Wine Tasting at the Hillsborough Wine Company!
Now that we have the fabulous new Wine Station, you can taste anytime at your convenience! It has been a lot of fun observing the excitement of using the machine. Moving forward, I still plan on scheduling formal wine tastings when special people are in town specifically winemakers or importers which brings me to the point of this email.
Next week, one of my favorite wine guys, Hunter Vogel, will be in town! When I found out, I immediately booked him to host a wine tasting and you are invited to join us! Hunter Vogel is one of the owners of the Three Finger Wine Company. Website: "We are an eclectic group of wine zealots including winemakers, growers and entrepreneurs. Wine runs through our veins and it is our goal to deliver the best wines at the best prices through innovative brands. While our packaging is fun, the wines are as serious as a sackful of rattlesnakes. Embrace the good things in life, get yourself 3 Fingers of fun."
The company has six different sub-labels and my favorite wines from them have been mostly under the Treasure Hunter label. Each Treasure Hunter wine goes through a pain-staking process of examination from their panel of nine called The De-Vine Nine. Made up of top sommeliers, winemakers and restaurateurs, they are the best of the best and they pour through hundreds of wines before they are deemed worthy.
All of these wines, if sold under the winery's label, would cost significantly more than under the Treasure Hunter label. The wines in the line-up are new and I'm thrilled to have you taste them and chat with Hunter. He is extremely knowledgeable about his wines and he is a super friendly, unpretentious guy. Here's the line-up:
- Treasure Hunter Petite Sirah "Admiral of the Black" 2008 - $22.99
- Treasure Hunter Cabernet Sauvignon "Letter of Marque" 2009 - $22.99
- Treasure Hunter Napa Red Blend "Constantine's Watch" 2008 - $22.99
- 1 X Spaceman "Moon Duck" GSM 2009 - $32.49
