Love top Napa Cabernet at great prices? Then pay close attention, this one is for you! Sinegal is a rapidly rising star on the Californian wine scene. Wine Spectator highlighted Sinegal’s wines as “quality products at reasonable prices.” in their article “Rising Stars of California Cabernet.” Robert Parker fully endorsed them too, stating “These are super-impressive wines, so consumers should get on the Sinegal bandwagon before it becomes better known.” I whole heartedly agree, grab all you can of Sinegal’s wines before their prices catch up with the rest of Napa’s great Cabs such as: - Futo 2018 - 97 pts VN @ $425
- Odette Cabernet Reserve 2018 - 97 pts @ $330
- Plumpjack Cabernet Reserve 2018 - 97 pts @ $320
- Staglin Estate 2018 - 97 pts @ $295
Sinegal is a relatively new estate winery project located on one of Napa’s most prestigious vineyard sites. The historic property located in St. Helena was first planted in 1881 by Alton Williams, one the pioneering founders of Napa viticulture. Over the years this prime vineyard site changed hands many times, and was most recently the home of Wolf Family Vineyards (a very successful winery in its own right, producing many highly rated Cabernets). Present day owner David Sinegal has taken the property from strength to strength.
A blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon 4% Cabernet Franc 2% Petit Verdot, all estate grown and organically farmed. A full-bodied and ripe Cabernet with layers of upfront dark cherry and black raspberry fruit. Round and pronounced in the mouth, with lots of classic cassis and chocolate notes. There’s firm tannic core and notes of oak and cedar, but it’s all well integrated with the fruit. This wine offers plenty of opulence and lots freshness too, pure fruit and good acidity leading into a 45+ second long finish. You can certainly drink this standout Cab now, just give it an hour or so in the decanter. Be sure to tuck some bottles away for cellaring too though, you can look forward to drinking this beauty for the next 10-15 years or more!
“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon turned out beautifully. Rich, sumptuous and incredibly alluring, the 2018 will drink well right out of the gate. Dark red fruit, mocha, spice and licorice are some of the notes that build in the glass. I would give it a few years in bottle, or alternatively open it in advance. Aeration and the passage of time did wonders for the 2018. It spent 20 months in barrel, 85% new." Vinous
