Domaine de Chateaumar Cuvee Bastien Cotes du Rhone 2020
Sale $17.99 - Beats Best US Price Online
Buy six or more pay just $15.99
When this sale is over, Bastien Cotes du Rhone will become our #1 selling French Red of all time. This gem is produced from 100% Grenache from a single-vineyard of 50+ year-old vines planted in Chateauneuf-du-Pape! Rather than overproduce their Chateauneuf, they declassify part of their harvest and produce this gem. Practicing organic, this father and son run estate uses no chemical fertilizers. The love and affection they show for their soil is fully shown in their wine...
Blah, blah, blah… it’s Chata-flippin-noof-du-Pape!!! As low as $14.99?
Look, I have no idea how/why, and I certainly have no idea why the price hasn’t skyrocketed after these years… but let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth, okay?
Deep, dark purple, almost black in color, the wine surprises with its high-toned raspberry, strawberry and floral aromas of youth. But once you start drinking, the dark flavors hinted at by the color start to emerge – raspberry ganache, blackberry preserves, black pepper, anise and spice. Firm tannins add solid structure to the wine, but are already integrated and seamless, making this a joy to drink right now, but a candidate for a few years of bottle age. Which means you oughta buy cases if you want it to be around that long! (Shameless, I know… but serious at the same time…) Don't overthink the food pairing here... at this price, just pop and pour with all manner of grilled, roasted and braised meats and poultry. Me? I'm making lamb kebobs tonight... perfect! Or reply. The wine will be available Wednesday in Chapel Hill. Friday, as ordered, in Hillsborough.
