La Pelle was founded in 2016 by winemaker Maayan Koschitzy and viticulturalist Miguel Luna. In just a few years they’ve already become one of Napa’s hottest new labels. The Robb Report featured them recently, stating “There’s a Line Forming for La Pelle, Napa’s Newest Label.” Well here you can get to the front of the line, we’re one of only three states outside of California that even has access to this wine! Production is just 300 cases, that’s 12 barrels, not a lot to go around.
Maayan is director of winemaking for Atelier Melka, yes that Philippe Melka. Chances are you had or at least heard of some of the many wines that Atelier Melka produces, Screaming Eagle, Dalle Vale, Vineyard 29, and of course Melka Estates, just to name a few. These are some of the most sought after and highest rated wines in the world. Maayan is the man behind those wines, with his hands on the fruit, in the vats, racking barrels, really making wine. Miguel Luna brings his expertise from the vineyard. He’s a partner in Silverado Farming Company, one of Napa’s most prestigious vineyard management companies. They own and farm many of the best vineyards in Napa, their Rockstar list of clients includes Lail, Dana Estates, Mole Hill, Stags Leap Wine Company, Accedo Cellars, yep more 100 point wines…
Here we have the second release of their single vineyard Cabs from Coombsville, Oak Knoll District and St. Helena. Currently, we are the only retailer in the country offering these wines! It pays to know someone...
All three are $129.99 on sale. Purchase them as a three pack for $119.99 per bottle. (and any increment of three packs... like 2 each, 3 each, etc.)
La Pelle Cabernet Sauvignon Alluvium Vineyard St. Helena 2019 – 98 pts Jeb Dunnuck
"From a site in St. Helena, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Alluvium Vineyard is another impressive, inky hued effort from this label. Gorgeously pure cassis, blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, chocolate, and spice notes dominate the nose, and it's just classic St. Helena goodness. Rich, full-bodied, structured, and with enough tannins to warrant 4-5 years of bottle age, this is the finest wine I've tasted from Mayaan's La Pelle label to date." JD
"A true profile of known and powerful wines from the St. Helena AVA. Deep burgundy color with a nose of bursting black fruits, dark plums, mountain herbs, and warm spices. Full-bodied palate with ripe tannins and minerality. Well-structured with integrated acidity to support the mid-palate layers of dark fruits and mountain spices. A hint of toasted French oak sweetness and tons of graphite expression. Already an impressive wine in 2022 with complexity. Expected to cellar beautifully for 20+ years." winery note
La Pelle Cabernet Sauvignon Ceniza Vineyard Coombsville 2019 – 96+ pts Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Ceniza Vineyard comes from the cooler Coombsville region and offers a deep purple color as well as thrilling notes of ripe blueberries, black cherries, dark tobacco, and earth. It has wonderful purity on the palate and is medium to full-bodied, has ripe tannins, awesome overall balance, and one great finish. This seriously good juice will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age and should have two decades of overall longevity, if not more." JD
"Deep inky in color with explosive aromatics of black currant, dark chocolate, and ripe plums with secondary notes of violets. Embodies classic Coombsville characteristics of mountain herbs and wildflowers. Robust and concentrated with silky tannins throughout the palate. The cooler weather in southeast Napa Valley allows for fresh and savory notes with great density and balanced acidity. A notable vintage, illustrating ability to age brilliantly for 20+ years." winery note
La Pelle Cabernet Sauvignon Red Hen Vineyard 2019 Oak Knoll Districit – 96 pts Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Hen Vineyard from the Oak Knoll District in the southern part of the valley is similarly inky purple/ruby-hued to go with more elegant, medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of crème de cassis, black raspberry, spring flowers, and cedar pencil. It's fresh, lively, focused, and beautifully balanced, and can be drunk any time over the coming 20-25 years." JD
"Consistent profile with our first release of the 2018 vintage. The 2019 is a bit darker and richer. An opaque red in color with aromas of black currents, dark red fruits, graphite, wet gravel, and fresh herbs. The palate is full-bodied and layered with superb, structured tannins and vivid acidity. A lingering finish with layers of spices, dark chocolate, and cranberry notes. Approachable and symmetrical with potential to age elegantly for 25+ years." JD
