From one of the steepest hillside vineyards at the top of Chalk Hill Road in the southeast corner of Alexander Valley, this exquisite site creates incredibly gorgeous wines with delicate, soft tannins that melt into the juicy dark fruits of this powerful cabernet.

The 2021 Del Rio Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon demonstrates an elegant power driven by its unique hillside location in the southeast corner of Alexander Valley. With chalky volcanic soils, and little organic material, the vines’ development is controlled and restrained, and the established fruit is concentrated and complex. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Alexander Valley AVA. Aged 22 months in 100% new 60 gallon French oak barrels. Chalky, Volcanic soils. Unfined, Unfiltered, Unacidified. 

“In the glass, it pours a dark purple hue and shows off a brooding profile, with a classic cologne of leather, cigar box, plum compote, savory herbs, graphite, and dried flowers. Full-bodied, it’s commanding in its structure, with ripe tannins that take on a more noble texture, a long finish, and fresh red fruit coming through on the back palate. It demands time in the cellar and is going to need another 5 or more years.”

“The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Del Rio Vineyard was matured for 22 months in 100% new French oak. It has pure, layered scents of cassis, blueberries, milk chocolate, lilac, aniseed and conifer. The medium-bodied palate boasts a deep well of spicy fruit underpinned by iron-like tones. It has a seamless structure, offering an ideal balance of fresh acidity and cashmere-textured tannins, and a very long finish with a flourish of spice and floral perfume. This will be long lived in bottle! 390 cases were made.”
