“Concentrated aromatics of dusty rose petals, smoky hoisin sauce and notes of toasted sesame oil. The palate is intense, centred around opaque bramble fruits, there is a muddled strawberry freshness, further carried by spicy chicory root, tart pomegranate, and delicious notes of dried anise. A wine of elegance certainly but with concentration and structure to unwind beautifully over a decade.”

"Taking on a magenta hue, the 2022 Pinot Noir Casteel cuts through all three properties and takes on fantastic high-toned notes on the nose, along with hints of fresh blue fruit shining through, with notes of cherry eau de vie lavender, wet stones, and gravelly earth, and a long finish."
Wine Advocate: 96 Points
“It's expressive and dynamic, offering surprising depth of flavor for its elegant frame. Medium ruby, it has layered scents of pomegranate, rhubarb and red cherry with accents of garrigue, aniseed, mossy bark and tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate is highly concentrated, its deep well of fruit streaked with touches of iron-like mineral character. It has powerful yet finely grained tannins and bursts of mouthwatering acidity that call you in again for another sip on the very long finish. This thrilling Pinot Noir offers just about everything you could want from this grape: alluring perfume, complex layers of spice and earth, harmonious structure and fantastic length.” - 99 pts for 2021
Vinous Media: 94 Points
"The 2022 Pinot Noir Casteel opens with a distinctly savory bouquet as steeped plums and crushed blackberries are complemented by rubbed sage and rose petals. It sweeps across the palate with ease, soothingly round and ripe upon entry, yet quickly firmed up by a saline mineral tinge and fine-grained tannins that saturate toward the close. Licorice and lavender mingle through the finish, as the Casteel tapers off long and structured yet still remarkably fresh. This is a beauty that is already showing quite well but also has the balance to age gracefully."

"Bright and vivid pinot with cherries, cranberries, dried rose hips and dried herbs on the nose. Medium-bodied, clean and refreshing on the palate, offering vivid red berry and citrus notes. Crunchy and minerally."- JS
