Just over an hour north of Sonoma, Anderson Valley runs northwest from the town of Boonville towards the Pacific Ocean. Only a mile wide and 16 miles long, the valley is perfectly situated to funnel ocean breezes and fog from the coast. The northern tip is one of the coolest climes in California. Originally a bastion for sparkling wine production, Anderson Valley has become equally suited for the production of still wine in the era of climate change. A small, family run winery, Brick & Mortar is a rising star on the scene!
Just the stats ma’am... extended cold soak until native yeasts begin a spontaneous fermentation followed by 8 months of aging in French oak barrels (10% new). 14.1% alc.
The wine is richly aromatic and vibrant, with bold notes of red raspberries, violets, and the earthy essence of a redwood forest. Its smooth, velvety texture is complemented by lively flavors of blackberry and plum, layered with hints of cherry blossom, fresh cedar, juniper, and bay laurel. These distinctive elements highlight the unique character of Pinot Noir from this region.
Wine Enthusiast: 94 Points
"This wine is vibrant, with aromas of baked Bing cherry, strawberry, plum, dried herbs and vanilla cream on the nose. Flavors of red currant-cranberry confiture and orange bitters wrap around cardamom spice, chicory and a long, supple finish. Hold or drink until 2032. Pair with halibut and parsnip purée." — Tonya Pitts
