Importer Eric Solomon and the Chaudiere family created the Terrasses cuvee in 1992 to showcase the then-unknown potential of the Ventoux region. Thirty years later, the family’s Ch. Pesquie is known the world over, with rave reviews from all the critics and, more importantly, you! To celebrate, an Anniversary Cuvee was created using the best lots of Grenache and Syrah.
Thanks to our relationship as one of the largest retailers for Pesquie, we are the first in the US to receive this special cuvee.
A 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, the wine is richer and denser than its regular bottling counterpart. Yet it still exemplifies what I love so much – pure, unadorned drinking pleasure. A “bistro wine” in the best sense! Aromas of violets and black pepper give way to rich layers of ripe blackberry and black cherry. The tannins are present, but smooth and refined, making this a dream to pair with food.
Harkening back to my culinary school days, I am thinking bistro classics as Coq au Vin, Cassoulet, Steak Frites and Daube d'Avignon (a red wine and lamb stew). Don’t worry… you don’t have to go full-on French to enjoy this baby. The winery also recommends pizza, grilled meats and pasta Bolognese!
Basically, whatever is your pleasure, from veggies to beef, from fish to fowl, this is the wine to grab. A nose of black cherries and ground pepper gives way to lush, juicy fruit with vibrant acidity and a lush, smooth finish. Drinks like $35+

“A special selection cuvée put together by importer Eric Solomon, the 2022 Ventoux Terrasses (Special 30th Anniversary) is based on an even split of Grenache and Syrah that was raised mostly in concrete with 30% in used barrels. It has a richer, denser style in its ripe black fruits, peppery herbs, and graphite-like aromatics and is medium to full-bodied, with a deep, layered mouthfeel and ripe tannins.”
