Dazzling dry Chenin Blanc from France’s Loire Valley!
His father having no interest in farming, Laurent Charrier took over from his grandfather at a young age. But in a familiar story, with youth came passion, and young Laurent immediately set about converting the farm to organic viticulture and modernizing the equipment. Now, twenty years on, with 30+ year-old vines at his disposal, Laurent produces one of our favorite values in all of Loire.
Lovely aromas of honeysuckle and peach blossom burst from the glass, followed by a hint of lime zest and baking spice. The palate has bright and juicy apricot, white peach, and golden pear fruit, along with candied citrus peel. From 30+ year-old vines grown in complex limestone soils, there is a beautiful, refreshing, racy acidity running throughout this, thanks to a lack of malolactic fermentation. Super food-friendly, this is a perfect bottle to have on hand throughout the holiday season – pour a glass while you’re cooking, pair with cheese and other appetizers, or break out a bottle on an Indian Summer evening with some fresh fish!
