Hopping in the Way Back machine to the early aughts when we had our first Corks for Kids event... a dozen Aussie and Kiwi wineries... the favorite of the bunch for me was Hentley Farm. Even at the height of Australian Shiraz’s dominance, the wines from Hentley were a little bit different. While others were hitting 16.5% alc, Hentley chose to pursue a slightly different path. While no lightweights, the wines still had an emphasis on balance. My favorite of their lineup was “The Beauty’.
Unfortunately, the last bottle of Hentley Shiraz we sold was in December of 2009! But the wines have never left my mind...
Okay... now look at the label again... tilt your head the other way... which did you see first? The Villain? Or the Vixen?

Ok... pretty cool... even cooler is the wine... ahhhh... Hentley Farm returns!
True to their mission statement, this is wonderfully balanced Shiraz. Oh, there’s no mistaking where it’s from... but instead of 16% alc, we have a very reasonable 14.5%. Blending fruit from Eden Valley adds acidity and exotic spice notes, while aging in used oak barrels tempers down the vanilla notes.
I am soooo happy!!!
