While the overwhelming majority of wines in Alsace are currently bottled using only one grape, there is an old tradition of blending white grapes to create a lovely table quaffer. And who knows more about tradition than Famille Hugel? I cannot imagine anyone, since the family has been producing wine since 1639! 379 years! I think they have it figured out by now!
So what do we have? 25% Sylvaner, 25% Pinot Blanc, 15% Gewurztraminer, 22% Pinot Gris, 7% Riesling, 6% Muscat. Pinot Gris gives body, Gewurztraminer offers exotic spice, Muscat provides grapey freshness, Riesling adds elegance and finesse, while the Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner are just simply refreshing. This kaleidoscope of grapes and flavors meld seamlessly to form a fresh, floral and mineral-scented white perfect for hot summer days and nights.
What to pair with? Well, a porch and a friend is a pretty perfect start! For food, keep it light and simple – fish, seafood, salad… ooohh… how ‘bout Fish Tacos with Creamy Lime Guacamole and Cabbage Slaw?

Very fresh with notes of sliced pears, lemons and white peaches plus a touch of white pepper spice and chamomile. It’s medium- to full-bodied with bright acidity and a phenolic touch. Dry. Blend of 33% gewurztraminer, 30% sylvaner, 17% pinot blanc, 7% riesling, 7% pinot gris and 6% muscat. Drink now.
