This wine is produced by the famed Chateau Fuisse. The winery, at the heart of the Fuisse village, has been in operation since 1604, with the Vincent family as owners since 1862. With holdings in the most sought-after areas of the region, the Vincent family has been instrumental in successfully gaining recognition for the first 1er Cru classification of the Macon in 2020. Simply, they ARE Pouilly-Fuisse, with wines rivaling those of the Cote de Beaune. And even without a 1er Cru designation, the wines are… well… they ain’t cheap! Their best (with 94-95 pt ratings) sell for $100 or so…

Now, as you might expect, the Vincent family has grown quite a bit since 1862, with cousins and nephews and nieces owning land throughout the region, again in some of the most sought-after areas. But many are small parcels, not able to support a separate wine label. And they cannot be used in the Chateau’s wines, which are estate sourced. So, Jean-Jacques Vincent, father of current winemaker Antoine, had a brilliant idea. Why not combine with the extended family’s holdings together and make some wine?
The same care, methods and expertise are used to craft the wines bearing the J.J. Vincent label, but they sell for just a fraction of the price!
This gem is blended from vineyards in the south Macon and in Pouilly Fuisse. 70% of the wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks with the remainder sees about 6 months in oak barrels. The result is bright and crisp, with layers of Granny Smith apple and pear flavors following aromas of white flowers and a hint of pink grapefruit. That citrus note repeats on the finish, along with the slightest whiff of vanilla. It’s positively lip-smacking and begs you to come back for another dip in the pool. And why not?
