No story today. Just wine. From the western part of Languedoc, in the far southwest of France comes this pure burst of joy! 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 5% Carignan from old vines. No oak treatment here to preserve the pure, juicy fruit. Cherries, plums, blueberries and blackberries mingle with flecks of pepper and spices. Silky smooth, with just the right amount of tannins and acidity.
This is everyday wine suited for a wide range of foods…
Ha! That is about as bland a description as I can give, eh?
Here’s what you really need to know. I have no need for this wine. I have 55 cases of a similar wine arriving this week. And yet I felt compelled to offer this one because it is simply that good. It’s rich, lush and just flat out gorgeous to drink. It is true the wine will go with a wide swath of foods. But I’m of two minds here… simple things when you’re in a hurry like pizza, burgers, or just something thrown on the grill – pre-marinated bbq chicken breasts are a staple when I’m rushing. On the other hand, Fall weather is starting to arrive and when I get a chill I start craving braised short ribs. Oh my… I gotta run to the store…

"The 2022 Languedoc Les Darons brings more density and richness, with ripe black cherries, wild strawberry, ground pepper, and floral notes in a medium to full-bodied, pure, beautifully balanced package. The purity and balance here are top-notch. The blend is 70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and the rest Carignan, from old vines, with the aging in concrete. This is going to be a smoking value."
