The secret to this wine’s success? Pisoni. As in the famed Pisoni family, the First Family of grapes in Southern California. Their Santa Lucia Highlands grapes are sold to just about every first-class producer in the state – Capiaux, Paul Lato, Kosta Browne, Peter Michael, Siduri… And their own estate wines routinely top the charts!
Luli is a partnership they formed with wine broker Sara Floyd to offer handcrafted wines at reasonable prices. Considering other 2013 Pisoni-farmed Pinots are garnering 93-95+ pts, this wine’s 92+ performance is really no surprise. I suppose we should be thankful the wine is underrated… otherwise, we could say goodbye to the reasonable price!
Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted before being fermented with native yeasts in small lots. The wine is then aged in neutral French oak barrels for 9 months before bottling.
The result? A pure and bright expression of Pinot Noir, loaded with Bing cherry, raspberry and pomegranate flavors, balanced by fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Fabulous!!!

“The 2021 Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands) is a lovely appellation-level wine. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry fruit, cedar and cinnamon are all nicely lifted. Soft, silky tannins grace the long, delineated finish, with pretty floral top notes that linger. Delicious.”
