A blend of 41% Syrah, 31% Grenache and 25% Mourvèdre… there is certainly inspiration drawn from and a resemblance to a Southern Cotes du Rhône. But, thankfully, this is no knockoff and stands alone as a representation of everything Paso Robles has to offer. Being 66% Syrah/Mourvèdre, the Hog is more dark-fruited, smokier and “serious” than a typical Rhône. Explosive aromas of plum, mocha and anise give way to juicy boysenberry and cherry flavors accented by dark chocolate and spice. The tannins are “grippy” enough to provide enough weight to stand up to rich food, but not so firm as to prevent you from just drinking this on its own! The best of both worlds! The winery suggests Korean short rib tacos and… boy that sounds good…
McPrice Myers Description
“High on the Hog is a wine you can drink for any occasion. Around the holiday dinner table in the Myers house, my grandmother would always look proudly around at her family all gathered around the dishes piled high with food, and say, “we are really living high on the hog, aren’t we?” This blend is in memory of Grandma and her joy at seeing the family doing well.” Winery note

“25% Grenache, 25% Zinfandel, 20% Syrah, 14% Petite Sirah, 12% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Mourvèdre. It's scented of red and black plums with touches of tar, turned earth, coffee, chocolate and spicy undertones. The medium to full-bodied palate has generous, juicy fruit, supple, approachable tannins and a long, flavorful finish streaked with spicy accents. This is very easy to drink and offers great quality for the price.”
