Founded in 1919 Pierre Peters is one of the original “grower Champagnes” and has quickly established itself as a darling of wine industry professionals and Champagne connoisseurs in the US. Yet with just 18 hectares of vines spread across the Cotes de Blancs they just don’t produce much wine, and very little is imported. So what makes this wine so special? The vines. With Grand Cru holdings in the finest sites of the Cotes de Blancs, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize, Oger, and Cramant their vineyards are the envy of even the greatest producers in the region. The Reserve de Cuvee is the family’s flagship, their most recognized bottling. A blend of more than 20 vintages of reserve wines dating back to 1988, 100% Chardonnay grown exclusively in the family’s Grand Cru holdings of the Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. This latest disgorgement is based on the 2016 vintage (a vintage in which Chardonnay fared particularly well), with up to 40% reserve wines completing the blend. It’s not to be missed.
“Vibrant and mouthwatering, this elegant blanc de blancs is driven by a chalky underpinning, while flavors of poached pear, apple blossom and pickled ginger play on the fine and lacy mousse. Lovely, with a long, minerally finish.” - WS
“The NV Blanc de Blancs Cuvée de Réserve is such a gorgeous wine. Bright, mineral and savory, with attractive tropical accents, the Cuvée de Réserve offers striking nuance and tons of class. This release is based on 2016, with reserve wines that go back to 1988. Partially blocked malolactic fermentation helps preserve a measure of freshness, but what impresses most is the wine’s total sense of balance. For readers who want to know what the Côte des Blancs is all about, without spending the money for an elite cuvée, this is the place to start. In a word: impressive. Dosage is 6.5-7 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2020.” - VM
“The latest rendition of Péters' NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Cuvée de Réserve offers up a lovely bouquet of citrus oil, pear, pastry cream, dried white flowers, hazelnuts and crushed chalk. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fine-boned and elegant, with ripe but racy acids, a delicate pinpoint mousse and a long, saline finish. As usual, this is an immensely refined Champagne that exemplifies the timeless style of this Mesnil-based Chardonnay specialist.” – WA
Pierre Peters Description
“Based on the 2018 vintage, this wine includes reserves dating back to 1988. Most of the components come from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger; all grow on chalk. The wine seems to layer that chalk’s seabed heritage into beautiful richness, as it combines different parcels aged in stainless steel, oak barrels or concrete. “It reminds me of architecture,” Tina Vaughn of NYC’s The Simone said. “The smell of a building site—granite, concrete, steel beams. Very Ayn Rand.” Or is it the architecture of ancient fossilized soil, along with a softer impression, one that made me smile at the glory of Champagne.” – 96 pts Wine & Spirits

“Made up, half and half, of base wine from the sunny 2018 harvest, and reserve wine from Rodolphe’s Perpetual Reserve which goes back to 1988, this is one of the most consistently excellent NV wines on the market. Its current iteration is especially impressive, floral, chalky, upstanding, and very complex; the palate sharing notes of dried apricot, plum and lemon pith with more developed intimations of sour honey and patisserie. An exemplary wine with real purity and precision on the finish.”
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
“This elegant Champagne is powered by intense acidity, wrapping its racy frame in a cloak fashioned from the plush and creamy mousse as it carries flavors of ripe mirabelle plum and fig fruit, chopped hazelnut and preserved lemon, with an underlying tang of salinity. The lingering finish echoes the ripe fruit and mineral character."

“The NV Brut Cuvée de Réserve Grand Cru is fabulous. A Champagne of tension and energy, the Cuvée de Réserve has real presence, not to mention tons of class. Citrus, jasmine, mint and crushed rocks are some of the many nuances that race out of the glass. In this release, the Cuvée de Réserve has a light tropical quality that is both exotic and hugely appealing. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Impressive.”
