The Judge. As in The Honourable George Shinas, a judge in his hometown of Mildura, Australia. (pop. 32,738) He is the 8th generation farming his family’s small estate. With his solid day job, winemaking isn’t his livelihood. And with just 8,000 cases produced, how could it be? No, The Judge makes wine because his family always has. And it gives him an excuse to travel the world!
His partner in crime is winemaker Stephen Black. You may know him as the mad genius behind the Small Gully wines. Here he turns his attention to the King – Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged a whopping 24 months in seasoned French oak barrels, resulting in a silky-smooth finish and uncommon complexity at this price point.
“Cherry, black currant, baking spices and a hint of pipe tobacco on the fragrant nose. In an energetic style, offering appealingly sweet red and dark berry flavors and suggestions of spicecake and candied rose.
