We've raved about Verdejo in the past- "The Spanish answer to Sauvignon Blanc"! With all the same bright citrusy aromatics, fresh juicy palate and lively acidity, Verdejo is a must for all fans of crisp and refreshing white wines!
This is bright and enormously aromatic. Loaded with enticing citrus and tropical fruit, there’s a hint of minerality on the zesty palate that plays with some really cool floral notes. To me, the most compelling part of the wine is this light coriander note that seems to pull it all together. It's just complex enough to put alongside a wide variety of food-specifically fish dish and especially anything from Southeast Asia- but this wine really just shines as a solo act. Grab a bottle and just enjoy the day!
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
The very young white 2023 Basa was produced with a blend of Verdejo with 10% Viura from a warm and precocious year. The must fermented and matured in stainless steel. The warm year delivered aromas of ripe yellow fruit and herbs, pollen, spices and a smoky twist and a medium-bodied palate with good ripeness and freshness (pH 3.35) and slightly higher alcohol (13.5%), rounder, like 2022. They got some rain at the end of the cycle that kind of saved the year. This was bottled without malolactic and is tasty and balanced.
