Falstaff: 92 Points
Notes of fresh hazelnut and subtle creaminess frame yellow, ripe stone fruit aromas on the nose, with just a hint of smoke. The palate also carries this oaky embrace, but is sprightly, bright, vivid and fresh at its core, as befits an English Chardonnay, despite the lovely ripe and smooth stone fruit notions. The finish pulls everything into focus, leaving you with a wonderfully brisk yet smooth wine that is striking and hits a beautiful balance. The finish reveals a touch of butter. Lovely now but will really gain from bottle age.
Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points
From a comparably warm vintage, this is downright opulent by English standards. There's a nutty, vanillin overlay to the green apple and melon fruit. The palate tells a different story. It's fresh and textural, creamy with subtle flavor and plenty of power. In the end, the cool climate wins out. And while this hides the oak better than the previous vintage, it's still present. This classy, ageworthy Chardonnay could cellar until 2030 at least.
