This wine has no business being this tasty. The aromatics are oh so inviting with ripe red fruit, drying herbs and spice. I’m ready to dive into my glass at this point, but the sip has so much more than the nose promises. Yes, there’s earth to bracket that ripe fruit! There’s also incredible length and acidity. Look at that deep color! This is a weekday wine, through and through, not even reaching 13% abv, yet perfectly dry and with incredible substance. Looking for a pizza wine? Or pasta, or poultry? This is an easy choice for any meal, and especially when you just want a relaxing red.

Sometimes in wine, the widely unexpected are the most fun. Ialo Cescon's Pinot Nero is exactly that! Wild aromas of boysenberry, red currant, medicinal herbs and clove work in concert to keep the mind engaged with each sniff. The palate is in lockstep with the nose highlighting high-toned red fruits, earthy flavors and vibrant acidity on the finish. A tasty and interesting wine. (90 points 2021 vintage)
